A festive prime rib roast seasoned with smoky garlic butter, perfect for holiday gatherings.


Ingredients

  • 1 (5-7 pound) prime rib roast
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Garlic Butter:
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 6 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon smoked paprika
  • 1 teaspoon fresh thyme, chopped
  • 1 teaspoon fresh rosemary, chopped

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 450Β°F (232Β°C).
  2. Prepare the garlic butter by mixing softened butter, minced garlic, smoked paprika, thyme, and rosemary in a bowl.
  3. Season the prime rib roast generously with salt and pepper.
  4. Spread the garlic butter mixture evenly over the roast.
  5. Place the roast on a rack in a roasting pan, fat side up.
  6. Roast at 450Β°F for 15 minutes, then reduce the oven temperature to 325Β°F and continue roasting until the internal temperature reaches 120Β°F for rare, or 130Β°F for medium rare.
  7. Remove from the oven and let rest for 15-20 minutes before slicing.

Notes

For the best results, use a meat thermometer to ensure the roast is cooked to your desired doneness. Leftovers can be refrigerated for up to 3 days.
