Description

A decadent dessert featuring layers of brownie and shortbread topped with rich ganache.


Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup chocolate chips
  • 1/2 cup cocoa powder
  • 2 large eggs
  • Ganache: 1 cup heavy cream
  • 8 ounces semi-sweet chocolate, chopped

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13 inch baking pan.
  2. In a bowl, cream together butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Add vanilla extract and mix well.
  4. Gradually add flour and mix to form shortbread dough.
  5. Press dough evenly into the prepared pan and bake for 20 minutes.
  6. While baking, prepare brownie layer: Melt chocolate chips and mix with cocoa, eggs, and other ingredients.
  7. Spread brownie mixture over the baked shortbread and bake for another 20-25 minutes.
  8. For ganache: Heat cream until simmering, pour over chopped chocolate, and stir until smooth.
  9. Pour ganache over cooled bars and refrigerate until set.
  10. Cut into bars and serve.

Notes

Ensure bars are fully cooled before adding ganache to prevent melting. Store in an airtight container for up to 5 days.
