Description

This ultra rich chocolate fudge cake is a decadent dessert with layers of moist chocolate cake and creamy fudge frosting, perfect for chocolate lovers.


Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 3/4 cups granulated sugar
  • 3/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1 cup boiling water
  • For the fudge frosting: 1 cup unsalted butter, 1 1/2 cups unsweetened cocoa powder, 6 cups powdered sugar, 2/3 cup milk, 2 teaspoons vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350Β°F (175Β°C). Grease and flour two 9-inch round baking pans.
  2. In a large bowl, stir together the flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  3. Add the eggs, milk, oil, and vanilla extract; beat on medium speed for 2 minutes.
  4. Stir in the boiling water (batter will be thin). Pour evenly into the prepared pans.
  5. Bake for 30 to 35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  6. Cool in pans for 10 minutes, then remove to wire racks to cool completely.
  7. For the frosting: Melt butter and stir in cocoa powder. Alternately add powdered sugar and milk, beating to spreading consistency. Add vanilla extract.
  8. Frost the cooled cakes and stack them.

Notes
