Description

These rich red velvet brownies are perfect for Valentine’s Day, featuring a moist chocolate base with a hint of cocoa and red food coloring, topped with cream cheese frosting.


Ingredients

  • 1 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • 4 large eggs
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1 tablespoon red food coloring
  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • For the frosting: 8 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 1/4 cup butter, softened
  • 2 cups powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350Β°F (175Β°C) and grease a 9×13 inch baking pan.
  2. In a large bowl, mix melted butter and sugar until combined.
  3. Add eggs one at a time, then stir in vanilla and red food coloring.
  4. In another bowl, whisk together flour, cocoa powder, and salt.
  5. Gradually add dry ingredients to wet ingredients and mix until just combined.
  6. Pour batter into prepared pan and bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  7. Allow to cool completely before frosting.
  8. For frosting: Beat cream cheese and butter until smooth, then add powdered sugar and vanilla, and spread over cooled brownies.

Notes

Store in an airtight container for up to 3 days. For a festive touch, add heart-shaped sprinkles.
