Description

A decadent red velvet cake layered with crushed Oreo cookies, offering a moist texture and rich chocolate flavor with a cream cheese frosting.


Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon cocoa powder
  • 1 1/2 cups vegetable oil
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 tablespoons red food coloring
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon white distilled vinegar
  • 20 Oreo cookies, crushed for batter
  • Additional Oreo cookies for garnish

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease two 9-inch round cake pans.
  2. In a large bowl, sift together flour, sugar, baking soda, salt, and cocoa powder.
  3. In another bowl, whisk oil, buttermilk, eggs, food coloring, vanilla, and vinegar.
  4. Combine wet and dry ingredients, mixing until just blended, then fold in crushed Oreos.
  5. Pour batter into prepared pans and bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  6. Cool cakes in pans for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
  7. Frost with cream cheese frosting and top with additional crushed Oreos.

Ensure Oreos are finely crushed for even distribution; store in an airtight container for up to 3 days.
